KENNETH CALHOUN
Fleet Optimization Manager
Altec Service Group

Kenneth Calhoun is a 34 plus year veteran of the transportation industry working first in the maintenance department of a fleet of 500 tractors.  He then spent 15 years working for a Detroit Diesel/Allison Distributor. Calhoun then served as vice president customer relations for Truck Centers of Arkansas until October of 2017. Additionally in August of 2015, he established Roanwood Maintenance Data Management.  His firm analyzes vehicle fault code information, provides action reports and then aggregates the data to identify trends to be addressed during scheduled preventive maintenance. In October of 2017, he sold that business and accepted the position of fleet optimization manager for Altec Industries.  During his tenure in the industry, he has served as chairman of the Arkansas Trucking Association’s Maintenance and Technology Council, general chairman and treasurer of the Technology and Maintenance Council (TMC) of the American Trucking Associations and has served on the Legislative Task Force on Workforce Education Excellence here in Arkansas. He is currently a member of the Research Advisory Committee of the American Transportation Research Institute, he chairs the Program Advisory Committee for the diesel technology program for ASU Beebe/Searcy Campus and established the Apprenticeship Standards Committee Within TMC. He is a member of the board of directors for the Be Pro Be Proud Foundation (formerly Associated Industries of Arkansas). Calhoun also is co-chairman of the Workforce Development Council for his current employer Altec Industries.  Most recently in June of this year, Calhoun was appointed by Governor Asa Hutchinson to serve a three year term on the Career Education and Workforce Development Board.

ANDREW PARKER
Director of Governmental Affairs & Executive Director
Associated Industries of Arkansas Foundation, Inc.

Andrew Parker, a licensed attorney and graduate of the William H. Bowen School of Law, is part of the Arkansas State Chamber’s governmental affairs team which focuses on improving the business climate in Arkansas.  He is the former director of its Leadership Arkansas program and directs Be Pro Be Proud – an effort to change student, parent, and teacher perceptions of skilled professions in Arkansas’s transportation, construction, manufacturing, and utility industries.  Parker previously served as regulatory counsel for the Arkansas Oil and Gas Commission and is the current chairman of the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission.

JOE ROLLINS
Workforce Development Director
Northwest Arkansas Council

Joe Rollins works with educators and business leaders to develop and strengthen the region’s career and technical education programs. He builds partnerships between colleges, technical schools and high school training programs and employers, provides career information to students and schools, and  assists school districts and the region’s employers in continuous support and improvement of career training programs. Rollins also works with area chambers of commerce in communicating regional training and partnership needs.

In his work at the Northwest Arkansas Council, Rollins has the opportunity to make a difference in people’s lives. Rollins serves as a liaison between students, educators and business leaders, working to develop and strengthen the region’s education and workforce training programs so that students get needed training for area jobs and employers have a skilled workforce.

Rollins started out teaching business in Springdale schools in 2004, then became Springdale High School’s assistant principal in 2010. He said his most significant achievement came in 2015 as founding principal of Don Tyson School of Innovation, citing the change it represented in how education is delivered.

In 2018, Rollins began his current job, a perfect fit due to his interest in helping graduates earn jobs using skills they’re taught in school. To bridge the gap between students and employers, Rollins focuses on talent pipeline development strategies, facilitating apprenticeships, internships and career training programs, and invites employers to join the design process.
