Attend the fourth quarter meeting of the Accounting & Finance Council at ArcBest, 8401 McClure Drive, Fort Smith, AR 72916 on Wednesday, December 12. 



The meeting will be held from 10 am to 2 pm, and lunch will be sponsored by BKD and served while attendees network with other accounting and finance professionals in the industry and learn from experts in a workshop-style setting.  
Session 1 
Tax Cuts & Jobs Act: What Businesses & Individuals Need to Know
Presented by: BKD
 
Don Desoto has more than 20 years of experience providing financial solutions to manufacturers, real estate and construction entities and employee benefit plans, including 16 years with BKD and four years as a divisional controller with a large publicly traded manufacturing company.
 
His professional affiliations include the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and Arkansas Society of Certified Public Accountants (ASCPA). Don is a member of the Western Arkansas Chapter of the ASCPA.
 
Don is a board member of the Arkansas River Valley Habitat for Humanity and a member of Downtown Optimist of Fort Smith.

 
Wade Luethy is a senior manager in BKD's Little Rock audit and attest practice and has eight years of public accounting experience.  He provides audit, tax and consulting services to clients in a wide range of industries, including insurance, manufacturing, and service organizations.  Wade also works on employee benefit plan audits.

He is a member of the American Institute of CPAs and Arkansas Society of Certified Public Accountants.  He also serves as an internal instructor for a variety of training courses in accounting, auditing and internal controls.


Mark Lundy helps provide financial solutions for governmental/not-for-profit, manufacturing and construction and real estate entities as well as employee benefit plans.  Mark has more than 20 years of experience, including two years as a controller for a local construction company.

Upon graduating from college, he joined an international accounting firm in Nashville, Tennessee.  In his five years with the firm, his experience included audit, corporate/partnership tax, U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission reporting and participation in a client's initial public offering.

Before joining BKD, he was a partner in a local CPA practice.  Mark's practice was primarily small business consulting, audit and corporate and individual income tax.

His professional affiliations include the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and Arkansas Society of Certified Public Accountants.  He currently serves on the NorthWest Arkansas Community College board of trustees. 


Kayla Moschner has more than eight years of public accounting experience.  She provides tax compliance and consulting services to clients in a variety of industries.  Kayla is a 2009 graduate of the University of Arkansas, with a B.S. degree in accounting, and a 2010 graduate of the University of Arkansas, with a Masters of Accountancy.

Session 2 
Intelligent Automation Overview, Risk and Controls, and Internal Audit Considerations
Presented by: Jon Smith, Senior Manager
Ernst & Young LLP 
 
Jon Smith is a Senior Manager in EY's Advisory practice with ten years' experience with IT risk and controls for Oil & Gas, Aerospace & Defense, and Construction industries. He specializes in the delivery of IT risk & controls evaluation and development with respect to Sarbanes-Oxley Section 404, IT risk assessments, and risk & controls for intelligent automation programs. He currently serves as an intelligent automation subject matter resource for our Risk practice in the Southwest region helping support clients as they automate key business processes while maintaining focus on the control implications. Jon received a Bachelor of Management Information Systems and a Masters of Business Administration from Oklahoma State University, and is a Certified Information Systems Auditor.  Jon has served in a variety of EY offices and is now located in the Oklahoma City, OK office.
