The meeting will be held at 10:30 am, and lunch will be served while attendees network with other safety professionals in a workshop-style setting.
In the morning session, safety expert Clay Merches will cover the process of transitioning from AOBRDs to ELDs before the December 16 deadline. This session will cover the following:
Understand the back office settings when transitioning from AOBRD mode to ELD mode and how those changes affect drivers and operations
What motor carriers should include in driver training and internal compliance staff training
How CVSA is training roadside inspectors and the expectations that officers will have for drivers during roadside inspections.
Then, after lunch, Merches will share insight on compliance audits in a post-ELD industry and how companies can prepare. This session will cover the following:
Setting up safety management processes that meet the compliance review officers' expectations
Benefits of creating/conducting an introduction presentation for the Review Officer prior to the beginning of a CR
Importance of creating an open and inviting environment/dialog with CR officers to ensure positive results from the CR
Clay Merches is a transportation and safety expert. He has been in the motor carrier industry since 1996, working with medium and large fleets such as Maverick Transportation and Roadrunner Transportation Systems. Over the past 20+ years, he has assisted motor carriers to improve their profitability with his innovative approach to safety, risk management, compliance, training and fuel management.
Currently, Merches is the president of Leading Edge Consulting, a specialized firm that supports motor carriers in their efforts to achieve compliance with federal and state regulations, reduce accident severity and frequency, and improve operational performance.

ATA members who attend without registering or register but do not attend will be charged $25.
