Webinar attendees will hear from panelists and have the opportunity to ask questions regarding:
  • Protecting current drivers and office employees
  • Hiring, conducting orientation and road tests
  • Complying with DOT physical requirements
  • Navigating exemptions provided by the government

Panelists

Christy Moore is the safety director for Distribution Solutions, Inc. Moore was promoted to the safety director position in February 2018, as well as completing her NATMI Director of Safety Certification in 2018.  Moore has been employed with DSI for 8 years after spending 19 years at FedEx Freight.  She began her career in safety in 2001.  Moore also obtained her OSHA 30 certification through North Arkansas College.  Moore is also in the process of obtaining an associate degree in business management. She is also the secretary for the Safety Management Council.  Moore grew up in a trucking family with her grandfather driving a truck for 40 years.  If you have ever been to an Arkansas Truck Driving Championship, you are very familiar with her.  She has been a part of the volunteer team since 2001.



Dean Newell began his career with Maverick in 1985 as an over-the-road driver. After spending more than ten years as a driver, Newell came off the road and held a variety of positions at Maverick's corporate office including positions in recruiting, training, and safety. He was promoted to vice president of safety & training in 2000.
Newell is responsible for the overall safety and training program of over 1,600 units. He has one of the best safety records in the industry and was named the winner of the Clare C. Casey Award for 2015, which is the Safety Professional of the Year recognized by the Truckload Carriers Association, the American Trucking Association's Safety Director of the Year for 2010, as well as Arkansas Safety Director of the Year in 2000.
Newell is very active within the TCA, and the TCA Safety Management Council. He also sits on many of the TCA's committees and working groups, including the regulations committee. He is an active member of the Arkansas Trucking Association.




Steven Phillips is currently the managing director of safety for FedEx Freight. He has been with FedEx Freight for 27 years and has been in the industry for 28 years.  While most of his career has been in operations, he has always promoted safety until formally taking on the director role in 2018.  He has supported various trucking associations during his career which include Missouri, Oklahoma, and Arkansas Trucking Associations.  He is also a member of the ATA.

Away from the industry, he is a proud father of 4 girls, Payton (18) who will be attending UCA in the fall, and Megan, Brynn, and Kaitlin (14).  He enjoys running, golf, and travel.




Tanya Rogers has over 16 years in the transportation industry and is passionate about improving carrier safety.
Her areas of responsibility as a safety manager at USA Truck are risk awareness, OSHA, security and driver recognition.

She currently holds the vice-chair position in the Safety Management Council for the Arkansas Trucking Association.







Jason Wing currently serves as the senior director of fleet safety for Walmart Transportation in Bentonville, Arkansas.  He has 21 years of industry experience and prior to joining Walmart’s private fleet in 2015, served the industry in both LTL and Truckload fleets.  Wing is career long member and active participant in numerous industry association to include the Arkansas Trucking Association, the American Trucking Association, and the Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance.  He currently serves on the board of the National Private Truck Council and is the chairman of the ATA’s National Truck Driving Championships.  In 2013, Wing was awarded the National Safety Professional Award of Excellence by the American Trucking Association and named Safety Professional of the Year for 2013 by the Arkansas Trucking Association.  He lives in Cave Springs, AR, with his wife Julie and their two sons, Greyson (9) and Gannon (7). 




With over 32 years in the Transportation Industry, Greer Woodruff is both a leader and an advocate for motor carrier safety. As the senior vice president over safety, security, and driver personnel at J.B. Hunt Transport, Inc., Woodruff ensures a fleet of over 19,000 stays up to date on the latest safety, compliance and technology best practices. Throughout his career, he has served on several safety policy boards and committees and is currently serving as the chairperson of the Technology Advisory Committee for the Alliance for Driver Safety and Security. In 2017, Woodruff participated in a roundtable on behalf of the American Trucking Association before the United States House Transportation Subcommittee on Highways and Transit. He has received numerous industry awards, such as the “Distinguished Safety Leadership Award” from the Truck Safety Coalition in 2016, and the Trucking Alliance “Highway to Victory Award” in 2018.
