SESSION 1
Electronic Level VIII Inspections
Presented by Tom Kelly
Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration
This session will cover what Level VIII Electronic Inspections are and their potential to help improve safety and efficiency while limiting fuel costs and emissions. FMCSA's Tom Kelly will be presenting on the operational test FMCSA and CVSA will carry out to assess the feasibility and impacts of inspections as part of FMCSA's suite of tools for assessing motor carriers safety. Kelly will also share how carriers can get involved and help shape the future of electronic inspections.
Tom Kelly has worked with FMCSA for over 11 years holding positions as the innovative technology deployment program manager, FMCSA state program manager for New Hampshire, compliance division chief at FMCSA headquarters before his current position as program manager.
Prior to FMCSA, Kelly retired from the Maine State Police with over 28 years of service along with being a US Navy veteran.

Drivewyze
In this session, Drivewyze's John Van Nortwick will share case studies on how fleets have creatively used in-cab notifications to reduce risk and improve efficiency. In addition, he will discuss the emphasis fleets are placing on weather notifications as a countermeasure to reduce weather-related incidents.
John Van Nortwick is the sales director, safety solutions for Drivewyze, North America’s largest connected truck platform. Van Nortwick came to Drivewyze from Mastery, a leading supply chain logistics TMS platform, where he served as product manager/senior solutions engineer focused on safety and compliance solutions and integrations. Prior to Mastery, he served in senior product leadership positions focused on safety and compliance including vice president, product development at RAIR/Lytx where he pioneered ELD Audit and CSA solutions that have been adopted by over 50 of the top 100 for hire carriers in North America.
