Make a reservation today.\n\n\n\nSYMPOSIUM OVERVIEW\n\nTHURSDAY\, NOVEMBER 4\n\nNational Trucking Regulatory Update\n\nIn this hour-long session\, American Trucking Associations' Vice President of Safety Policy Dan Horvath will provide a federal regulatory update\, focusing on issues impacting safety professionals.\n\n\n\nDan Horvath is the vice president of safety policy at the American Trucking Associations. Horvath joined ATA in March of 2018 as director of safety policy after more than five years as director of compliance and safety at TransForce Inc. Prior to that role\, Horvath was a Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration auditor\, examining new commercial carriers for regulatory compliance. Before his time at FMCSA\, Horvath spent several years in the operations and safety department at Mlaker Transportation Inc.\, a Pennsylvania-based motor coach and student transportation company. In September 2018\, Horvath was promoted to ATA's vice president of safety policy. In this role\, he represents ATA and its safety agenda before federal and state government regulators and various non-governmental organizations. Horvath oversees the association's safety policy and hazardous materials committees which formulate the official safety policy agenda on behalf of ATA's broader membership. Horvath\, a proud CDL holder\, is a 2017 graduate of the LEAD ATA program\, a long-time volunteer at the National Truck Driving Championships\, and serves on multiple committees with the Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance.\n\n\n\n\n\nCrisis Management\n\nDo you know what to do in a crisis? Whether it's a motor vehicle accident\, dock accident or some other incident involving a customer or employee\, Wright Lindsey Jennings Partner and ATA General Counsel Greg Jones will take attendees through the steps everyone should follow to control the flow of information and minimize a potential crisis.\n\n\n\nDuring his 37 years of trial practice\, Greg Jones has handled significant high-stakes litigation in a wide variety of areas including transportation\, products liability\, civil rights and employment\, constitutional law and commercial disputes.\n\n\n\nRepresentative cases include:\n\n Lead counsel defending trucking companies in scores of wrongful death\, burn\, spine and brain injury cases.\n Lead counsel defending a tire & rubber manufacturer that led to acceptance of the Component Part Doctrine in Arkansas.\n Amicus counsel for national and state trade associations in successfully challenging the constitutionality of the Arkansas Seat Belt Evidence Statute.\n Lead counsel in commercial contract disputes\, insurance coverage disputes and cargo loss litigation.\n\nBefore joining the firm\, Jones served from 1982-84 as a law clerk for U.S. District Judge G. Thomas Eisele\, and from 1977-79 as a legislative assistant to U.S. Senator Dale Bumpers. He has taught trial and litigation skills as an Adjunct Professor at the UALR William H. Bowen School of Law and has been an active member of the Arkansas Bar Association\, holding various positions including Chair of the Young Lawyers' Section. He also is a founding member of the William R. Overton Inn of Court. In 2013\, he was appointed to serve as a Special Justice on the Arkansas Supreme Court. Jones currently serves as outside General Counsel for the Arkansas Trucking Association.\n\n\n\nTerry Don Rippy has over 30 years of experience. He has been with ArcBest Corporation for 25 years. He holds a B.S. degree in mass communications from the University of Central Arkansas. Rippy previously worked for State Farm Insurance. He is a certified member of the National Flood Insurance Program (NIFP) and a member of the National Insurance Crime Bureau. In his current position\, he manages major exposure cases\, on-scene investigations and trial attendance. He oversees the major accident team\, property insurance program\, ocean cargo/shippers interest program\, state reporting and certificates of insurance. \n\n\n\n\n\nCreating a Safety Culture: Policy & Procedure Workshop\n\nCarriers of all sizes need an intentional safety culture. In this interactive workshop\, Doug Marcello\, Bluewire\, will present on how a company's policies and procedures can contribute to a true culture of safety.\n\n\n\nAttendees will be invited to review and amend real policies and procedures in the workplace to better align with their safety values.\n\n\n\nDoug Marcello\, chief legal officer of Bluewire\, is a trucking defense attorney with a CDL. He had represented trucking clients across the country\, having been specially admitted for cases in 35 states. Marcello received the 2018 Leadership Award of the ATA Safety Council. He has served on the advisory board of the American Trucking Research Institute. Marcello is a member of numerous trucking organizations\, including a board member of the Pennsylvania Motor Truck Association and member of the American Trucking Associations' safety council as well as trucking law organizations including TIDA and Transportation Lawyers.\n\n\n\n\n\nFRIDAY\, NOVEMBER 5\n\nOSHA Update\n\nHear directly from OSHA about new and potential regulatory changes\, including ever-evolving rules around COVID-19 vaccinations\, testing and workplace wellness. \n\n\n\n\n\nDriver Recruiting & Retention through the Lens of Diversity & Inclusion\n\nThe best driver is a safe driver. USA Truck CEO & President James Reed will highlight the ways that diversity\, equity and inclusion impact driver recruitment and retention. He will explore how businesses of all sizes can promote DE&I in their workplaces.\n\n\n\nJames Reed joined USA Truck in November 2016\, bringing more than two decades of multi-faceted experience in trucking\, logistics\, finance and business development. He previously served as chief financial officer of Interstate Distributor Company\, as well as president of its subsidiary\, Interstate Distributor Logistics. As Interstate's CFO\, Reed was responsible for all accounting\, financial planning and analysis and IT\, and led the company's strategic planning process. He joined Interstate in 2012 and served for a time as its senior vice president\, sales\, with full accountability for the company's revenue growth and strategic account development.
